Dr Andrew Barlow
Dr Andrew Barlow trained in Sheffield, Manchester and London. He is a highly revered consultant chest physician based in Greater London. Since his appointment as a Consultant in 2005 he has dedicated himself to exceptional patient care and medical innovation. His subspecialty interests include lung cancer, bronchoscopy, difficult airways disease complicated by allergy, unexplained breathlessness, bronchial infections, cough, respiratory failure and sleep medicine. He is an expert in bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound-guided biopsy (EBUS), mediastinal EUS including left adrenal biopsy, as well as thoracic ultrasound and pleural procedures. He is also trained in cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
Dr Barlow's research interests include respiratory infection and interventional bronchoscopy. He set up the first EBUS service in the Mount Vernon Cancer Network in 2007 and has participated in numerous international conferences to present on matters regarding the technique. He is also a regular faculty member for the renowned UCH course, EBUS LIVE and is the course director for his own EBUS course at West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust.
He is the Principal Investigator at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust for the LuCID study, an international multi-centre trial investigating novel techniques potentially of use in diagnosing lung cancer early.
Dr Barlow is a Director of London & Hertfordshire Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd and is a founder member of the Chest Clinic, a multi-professional group practice linking with expert radiologists, Lung Oncologists, Cardiologists and Thoracic Surgeons.
